Spring Cleaning

If you haven't quite finished yours and still need to do the windows, here's a great tip. On the inside, wipe up and down. On the outside, back and forth. If you have streaks (and you know you will) you'll be able to tell which side of the window they're on. No more running back and forth!

Disclaimer - I've never actually used this technique myself. This girl doesn't do windows (note: "multi-surface" Windex") but I think I might try it this year. I can recommend this however because I have passed it on to others and they swear by it.

Use it or lose it!

Hm...........sadly, this comic reminds me that my cussin' has gotten a bit out of hand lately. Sort of goes in spurts, I guess. I have a friend who sings with New York City Opera, in Italian! She has the voice of an angel and the mouth of a truck driver. I guess one personality offsets the other and creates a perfect balance for her. Gotta' find my balance. Maybe I need to look at my Feng Shui!

This is my squorn. There are many like it but this one is mine.

A squorn is a squeaky toy diguised as a horn. (I totally made up that word. Could ya' tell?) It's for my bike. The one I haven't riden yet! So, I take the bike out for a test run a few days ago. Got the helmet (thanks Suzy), got the chain back on the round thingy (thanks Chris), got the seat lowered (thanks again Chris) and off I go. Click, click, click, grrrrrrrraaaak ak, ak goes the chain. No bike shop in town. I am thoroughly disappointed. Perhaps it's an omen! Maybe a walk would be better for me anyway.

This WAS the tree in front of my house! The town apparently was disturbed by the fact that it was getting a little too big, forcing it's roots to buckle the sidewalk EVER SO SLIGHTLY!

A True Philosopher's "Deep Thoughts"

I have long admired Jack Handey's philosophical humor. I enjoyed him on Saturday Night Live, back in the day, and have since collected his books. I was recently disappointed to find that his postcards are out of print. I had purchased many but sent them all off to friends in time. If anyone knows where I might find any, please let me know! (and yes, I periodically check e-bay) And now, a small sample of his vast wisdom.

"Instead of having "answers" on a math test, they should just call them "impressions," and if you got a different "impression," so what, can't we all be brothers?"

Hey, it's Yo Mama!

You may have gotten Mom some flowers or candy.

Maybe you'll take her out to brunch or dinner. I am the card and phone call type child. But this year, I went above and beyond by including a "buy one - get one free breakfast sandwich coupon" lovingly tucked inside the card. I know my Mom will love it because she will appreciate the fact that I just plain thought of her. She know's I love her like crazy and if she actually uses the coupon, hey, that's a bonus!

And he did it with THREE!

I guess most people don't know it, but any Deadhead will tell you how Jerry Garcia lost his finger. He learned his instrument with what he had left and as I listened to him last night, I was once again left in awe. Through music, no one has ever taken me where he has. My mind goes in so many directions, to so many interesting places, sometimes reeling to keep up with him as he speaks through those strings. But every now and then, it is just too much for me to absorb and I am left speechless. Such a high I could never get from any drug ever taken. Jerry, thank you for a real good time! You are still rockin' my world!
