It's here, I've got it and it's good
That's the new Bruce, of course. I was fortunate enough to catch the album hour on a local radio station. So.....I gotta holla to my home boy, Steven. He's hands down the biggest Bruce fan I know and has been threatening to visit me up here. Now's the time, dude! Get your ass up here and we'll listen to it 'til the sun comes up and I am NOT messin' with you!

"Once Were Warriors"
This blog is in no way intended to bash people who drink or even do drugs, for that matter.
With that being said,if you are one who's life has become unmanageable because of your drinking, thinking about "cutting back", or just plain looking for a great rental, please look for "Once Were Warriors". A 1995 release from New Zealand, this flick won 15 awards internationally and when you see it, you'll understand why. Extremely powerful but I must warn you it is very brutal. Do a google search and check it out or click the title link above. This is still one of my all-time favorites.

Got Mule?
I have seen Warren Haynes perform many, many times both as a member and as a guest with other bands. He has ALWAYS left me shaking my head in amazement.Last night atThe Higher Ground was the first time I saw a Government Mule show. I'd caught only a bit of them once at the Jammies in NYC. Can you say I-N-S-A-N-E? I've seen hundreds of jam band performances but have never grooved like this without serious chemical aids. I almost lost my head. Warren is really at home with his band. I've been saying for years he is the hardest working man in Rock & Roll and I really look forward to seeing him again. He's popped in on DMB a few times so maybe at the Mass. show!

Hug a tree today! It's Earth Day!
Some people think it may be too late to save the earth. Most just gripe and whine about it, taking no action. I don't know for sure if I'm doing anything to contribute to it's preservation but don't think I'm contributing to the decline. If we could just maintain...........

What a little TLC can do!
I've got these little sprouts, so what do I do now? Never grew any herbs before. I'm not patting myself on the back too much yet. I still have a few more that I'm waiting for but it's a nice start to a hopefully bountiful harvest!

One, Two, Three, what are we fightin' for?
Oil? Religion? Freedom? I read, I listen and I still don't get it. I'm sure it's because I just don't WANT to get it. So, here's another one for the rednecks. And don't worry, when and if this war ends, you can still fight for the death penalty.

Don't bite the mailman!
After a great weekend out of town, I drove home trying to wrap my head around getting into another workweek. Check the mail, check the mail..............so glad I did! I almost blew it off after sending the G-man my tax money. Didn't want to see another bill. God is so good to me!

Do I really need a helmet?
Eureka! I finally got a chain for my bike today so I can take it out of the back seat or my car! "Do you have a bell?" The clerk laughed. "OK, then how about a horn?" Nope. "Streamers?" Strike 3! So, looks like the old clothespin and baseball card for me!

From the Deadbase, most Gratefully
This is it. The last Dead show I attended. And when I say "Dead" show, that would mean with the late, great Jerry Garcia. Some folks still call the touring band "The Dead" In fact, they call themselves that. "The Other Ones" worked just fine with me and I don't know why they changed it. It's just not "The Dead" without Jerry. I still love these guys, but it's just not the same. :(
And the setlist:06-19-95 Giants Stadium, East Rutherford, N.J. (Mon)
1: Cold Rain, Schoolgirl, Ramble On, All Over Now, Lazy River Road, Me & My Uncle> Big River,Don't Ease
break for Wharf Rat meeting!2: Iko Iko, Unbroken Chain, Samba, Corinna> Matilda> Drumz> Jam> Space> Other One*> Stella Blue> Throwing Stones> Lovelight E: Brokedown
*first verse without Jerry final "Cold Rain" - final "Matilda" - final "Lovelight" - Bob Dylan opened

Do ya' get it now?
One of the nice things about moving to a new area is meeting new people.
Most folks don't have to get to know me too well before they discover I am a Deadhead. Why does it always seem to surprise them when they eventually find out (and they all do!) that I am also a huge Bruce fan? Are the two mutually exclusive? So, I have come up with a perfectly simple, logical "explanation" in just two words........
JERSEY GIRL! And another thing - would you just LOOK at him!

Paul, this one's for you. I know you're reading!
Do you see that ticker up there over your head? We're almost there and I know you're ready. It's spring and time to put on your dancin' shoes. Not that we ever took them off, did we?

Can we talk?
Ok - I don't really think I'm a freak but I really like this flag. No one says it better for me than Robert Hunter (who else)! "I say what I mean and I don't give a damn. I do believe and I am who I am." So, I'm sorry if I offend you. I assure you it is not my intention! Let's admit it, you're flyin' your own damn freak flag! And if you think it than, yes - this blog (post) is about you!

This is so BEAT!
You buy a quart and it doesn't last long enough. But go ahead and buy a 1/2 gallon. It goes bad on you before you can finish it. And me, with my Girl Scout cookies. Peanut Butter to boot! Guess I'll have to find another Sunday night activity.......(especially since Boston Legal isn't on tonight!)

Dancing Nancies! The best damn band site ever!
It's always a good day when tickets go on sale! Tomorrow morning - tickets to DMB! I have to say I was a little upset to see they added an NYC show. I mean, probably means some great additions like Bela Fleck, Robert Randolph and I'm sure a few other family members. The tickets I'm shooting for will be Manfield, MA and opening is G Love and Special Sauce. I miss you Boyd and will see you soon! (See me back!)
